G-HIVE Training: Race and Ethnicity

This workshop aims to introduce participants to the concepts of race and ethnic equality and diversity in a variety of environments including society, the community, and the workplace. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the issues surrounding equality and diversity and apply this awareness to their understanding of their work related roles and responsibilities.

The three-hour workshop will cover the following topics:

  1. Understanding equality on the grounds of race and ethnicity
  2. What is meant by racial and ethnic diversity
  3. Understand the effects of stereotyping and labelling
  4. Understand the effects of prejudice and discrimination
  5. Understand the ways in which people might choose to describe themselves
